Corporate Social Responsibility

Balance between business, people and the environment

Within the Hendriks Group and its various subsidiaries, we are increasingly striving to achieve a better balance between three factors: business, people and the environment. We are aware of our contribution and are actively working to make our businesses more sustainable in a number of key areas.

Company

Making the production process more sustainable

We have been able to make our production process considerably more sustainable in recent years. Very recently, the purchase of two new laser cutting machines has resulted in significant energy savings. Energy consumption has now been reduced to two-thirds of the original consumption.

Cutting machines

Efforts have also been made to increase the efficiency of the cutting machines. This has enabled us to achieve minimal cutting waste within our sheet metal working department. We are able to arrange the sheets in such a way that we can cut out the maximum amount. This results in a considerable reduction in waste.

Lighting

Another sustainability measure we are continuously working on is LED lighting. Not only are we replacing all lighting that no longer works with LED, but we are also taking a critical look at the lighting in our workshops to see how we can make it more sustainable, not only to reduce energy consumption but also to improve the working environment for our staff.

For example, in the summer of 2020, we completely replaced the lighting in the Hendriks precon hall with LED lighting. This not only improves working conditions, but also results in significant energy savings of 40% on lighting.

Surroundings

Lease cars

With effect from 2020, we have decided to no longer lease passenger cars with diesel engines. In doing so, we want to make an active contribution to reducing CO2 and particulate matter emissions.

Waste separation & recycling

In addition to waste reduction in our production process, waste separation and recycling also play an important role in our CSR policy. In our canteens and offices, we strive to separate our waste as much as possible and to deliver it to our waste processor in this manner.

In many cases, our formwork is used without paint, but simply with stickers. This makes it easy to recycle. This significantly reduces the use of paint, thereby reducing the impact on the environment and making the formwork flexible in use.

Local purchasing

We strive to purchase locally as much as possible. We buy most of our large equipment locally. This benefits the environment in many ways: we reduce the strain on the road network and produce less CO2 emissions thanks to shorter routes. In addition, we actively contribute to local and regional employment, which indirectly brings economic benefits.

Sponsorship

As Hendriks, we sponsor local (sports) initiatives in which our employees are closely involved. This policy is aimed at increasing local involvement and the commitment of our employees to our company and vice versa.

Human

Sustainable employability

One of the absolute pillars of our policy is sustainable employability. For us, a fit body and a flexible mind are extremely important. In recent years, we have successfully launched various initiatives, ranging from programmes to help employees quit smoking to coaching programmes for a better work-life balance.

Sport & exercise

At Hendriks, we believe that health, sport and exercise are important factors for a fit body and a flexible mind. That is why we have a health promotion scheme for all our employees. This includes free sports under the supervision of a physiotherapist.

Education

In addition to sustainable employability, training our people also plays an important role in our CSR policy. We believe that development plays an important role in keeping your mind flexible. We also offer a wide range of training opportunities and are open to everyone's ambitions.

Diversity in the workplace

Diversity is an important pillar of our HR policy. We believe that diversity in all its forms contributes to job satisfaction, quality and lifelong learning. Our colleagues all have different and sometimes unique backgrounds. Training and seeing and offering opportunities is in our DNA. That is why we always like to talk to people first. Do they have ambition and passion? Then the qualifications and experience will come naturally through hard work. We will make sure of that together.

By focusing on the person behind the job, we have also managed to make our construction vacancies more attractive to ambitious women in recent years. And with success, because women now make up an increasing proportion of our workforce.

Thanks to partnerships with various organisations, we are able to regularly offer suitable jobs to people with refugee status or those who are otherwise disadvantaged in the labour market. In this way, we are helping to build a whole new future for these people.

The diverse composition of our teams contributes to our ability to learn. We successfully focus on creating opportunities, learning and sustainable employability. This not only results in a high level of job satisfaction among our colleagues, but also allows us to contribute to society. And we are proud of that!
