Hendriks supplies smart mould for new IJB Group factory

Achtvoudige heipalenmal van Hendriks in de fabriek van IJB Groep Lelystad

The IJB Group is a well-known name in the world of pile foundations. The company has been a leader in this field for almost sixty years. Last year, the IJB Group opened a new production site in Lelystad, next to its existing factory in Lemmer. This move enables the foundation specialist to respond to the increasing demand for piles and just-in-time deliveries. Hendriks supplied an eight-fold mould for the production of the prestressed piles.

The design and production of prestressed prefabricated piles is one of the core activities of the IJB Group. The new production site in Lelystad will enable the company to serve customers in the Randstad conurbation faster and better. Operating from two locations not only allows for smarter and more efficient production, but also reduces the total number of transport movements. This is a great step towards the IJB Group's sustainability ambitions. Pierre Hoekstra of the IJB Group says about the new location: "Lelystad is not only a production location but also a testing ground where the latest developments see the light of day. When it comes to new systems, we prefer to use a trusted and proven partner. Hendriks is such a partner for us when it comes to mould construction."

Eightfold mould

In the run-up to the new construction, the IJB Group approached Hendriks with the question of what they could do for the production of prestressed pile moulds measuring 290 x 290 mm and with a maximum length of 25 metres. "Hendriks proposed an eight-fold mould with a length of 75 metres. This length can be divided into sections of up to 25 metres using end plates. In addition to the mould, rails are provided on which all the associated equipment can move back and forth. The pouring itself is done from the top. Up to eight piles can be poured and lifted in one go."

Smart formwork removal system

Fast and efficient production cannot be separated from the final formwork removal. Pierre Hoekstra explains: "In collaboration with Hendriks, we have developed a new demoulding system. We ingeniously inflate the steel pile mould by pushing air into it from the bottom. This allows the piles to be easily removed. It's a solution that is as smart as it is efficient."

With the new mould, the IJB Group has taken the first step towards further expansion. "The market is growing and housing production will continue unabated in the coming years," says Pierre Hoekstra. "I expect production to continue to grow steadily over the next two years."
