In a green and water-rich area in Bergen op Zoom, work is currently underway on a new 11-storey apartment complex. The construction comprises a three-storey low-rise section with a car park and an 11-storey high-rise section. The 48 apartments for sale have different layouts and range in size from 90 to 130 square metres. The apartments are being built by Aannemingsbedrijf Fraanje, a construction company that has been in business for over 100 years and specialises in commercial, utility and residential construction.
Raymond Elfrink is present on site as site supervisor. In this capacity, he is closely involved in the day-to-day activities and explains the formwork being used for this project. “The new building is being constructed around a concrete core that was poured on site. We are constructing the facades using prefab concrete elements. For the concrete core, we were looking for a solution that combined speed and safety. Hendriks turned out to offer the right solution." Hendriks has a wide range of formwork for residential and non-residential construction. The different lengths of the formwork can be easily combined to the desired dimensions. The positions of window and door openings and end panels are fully pre-programmed.
"The formwork is quick and easy to use and can be converted quickly. After pouring and curing, the box can be unloaded quickly and lifted in no time. This ensures shorter cycles and therefore time and cost savings," says Raymond Elfrink. He continues: "However, this speed must not be at the expense of employee safety. And in that respect, too, Hendriks' formwork has the edge. The steel formwork is equipped with an integrated pouring and working platform with ladder access for optimum safety and maximum working comfort during pouring and working on the formwork. Another important factor for the rest of the construction process is that the steel formwork ensures that the walls of the apartments are perfectly straight and require hardly any finishing after pouring and curing. This saves time not only in the structural work but also in the subsequent phases of construction. A real win-win situation for both the contractor and the client."
